Saturday

Henry has been pretty ornery in the middle of the night and today. He is sick of blood pressures, blood work, the pulse ox finger thing and any nurse or doctor or tech that comes in that isn't mommy or daddy.  I just want to express how greatful I am right now for the kind man who came in to do an x ray.  There has been a concern that Henry is constipated. With his meds slowing things down and the possibility of infection from a hard bowel movement causing micro tears in his bowel they have been telling g us he needs stool softener and we keep telling them that he really doesn't have much to poop. He hasn't eaten much since before we came and less after. The nurse told us the doctor ordered an x ray to see how much is in there, at least that is what I assumed because they didn't mention the order.  This man who did the x ray was so kind and gentle. Henry yelled and didn't want him to touch him or move him. The tech guided me how to position Henry and also made sure there were the right kind of pillows under him so he wouldn't have to lay on the hard board. He was kind and patient and calm.  When it was time to be done with the x-ray  he slid the board out from under the pillows and helped slid Henry one top of the pillows to a better spot on the bed. I am about in tears from how much easier the man tried to make things for my little boy.

All of our kids came with their grandma and Great Aunt Jeanette. They played and got to see Henry and some of the cool things at the hospital.

They also ate food from the cafeteria and surprisingly Henry ate really well for his track record this hospital stay. Maybe because his brothers  were eating too? Maybe the steroids were kicking in? Either way it was good to see.

The doctor stopped us in the hallway and told us she was so sorry the x ray was for another patient but Henry did only have a small amount of poop in his intestines so they haven't pushed the stool softener since.

The plan for bringing our other kids was also to bring me home. My sweet Mother-in-law wanted to make sure I didn't have to drive on my own so I hitched a ride with them. E held my hand as often as she could because otherwise she wanted to be sitting in my lap.

I told Myra as we were leaving the hospital that I just felt sick leaving my baby boy there even though he was with his dad.
We came home and I started the list of things to be done before Henry came home. When we went to bed I had pulled a mattress in and put it on the floor and we had a trundle bed on the other side of my bed. The girls and I slept in my bed and the boys on the floor beds. It was nice to be home in my own bed and we slept well.
