Thursday
I have to say my account of what happened Wednesday night going into Thursday is some fuzzy or pieced together from what I know now. I was so exhausted from staying up in the night with Henry since Monday, that I missed some of the heightening concern for Henry's health. I just kept falling asleep but I know that Henry's heart rate and blood pressure were high and climbing. The nurse came in and gave him a finger poke to check for anemia. The samples they took of his blood had been contaminated and they needed more to find out why his heart was literally racing. Henry's heart rate got up above 200 beats per minute. A little while later we found out that Henry was very anemic. They wanted to give him a transfusion but they needed to redo his blood work for that so it took until about midnight to get his new blood started. Around 2 is when I woke up rested enough to trade with Jeremy. His heart rate had come down to 170 and over the next few hours dropped to a much better rate. His blood pressure did stay higher but not as high. They gave him blood pressure medicine as well to get that down. As the concern for his heart went down his respiratory rate was still high. The whole time it seemed like his pain was worsening. We talked to his doctors when they did rounds and they ordered morphine to help with the pain. Once he had that dose his respiratory slowed and he slept better and felt better. While he was sleeping and no longer in pain they gave him a steroid and his second chemo dose, this time through his port. In the evening he was more awake and our friends Jeremy and Aimee brought us so much from our family and friends in Idaho. Lots of great toys, some cute pjs and snacks, entertainment and gift cards for mom and dad. Jeremy brought back Nothing and a clean silky.
Henry's Aunt Bob sent a mustache set as a disguise so the nurses won't know where he went.

He also got up to play at the little play area on the cancer floor.
From how bad the night went to how much better he was feeling after getting his little heart and lungs settled. And getting his first dose of chemo meds. We were greatful to see the improvement.

I love the mustache gift! What a clever way to get a smile and have some fun. I hate seeing Henry in the hospital. : ( This is so stressful for all of you. Tell Henry the primary is praying hard for him to get well fast and he is definitely loved and missed and we can't wait to see him back in our class. Clara mentioned in him our class prayer and it was so sweet. I love you a lot Henry!
